Sometimes The Gym Has to Wait…..
Though some of us would perhaps rather live at the gym, that’s typically not possible for most of us. Lest we forget, bench press benches comfy beds do not make! Sometimes life gets in the way of the gym. Often times, Wife gets in the way of the gym. We have responsibilities to people and things other than our bodies, so we must occasionally work with what we have in order to have our workout work out.
…..But Your Workout Doesn’t.
Just because we aren’t at the gym, and don’t have access to all of our normal equipment, doesn’t meant we can’t workout like we are. Its just a matter of being the MacGyver of Muscles, and figuring out creative ways to take advantage of what we do have around us and at our disposal. I’ll put you along the right track with a few basic, equipment-less exercises you can do anywhere, anytime:
Easy to do anywhere, anytime. The granddaddy of all exercises.
If you don’t have a pull up bar handy, find an exposed cross beam or such, and get that chin up and over it.
No one to hold your feet like they did in High School phys-ed? Sliding your feet underneath the edge of the couch will provide an excellent counter weight to keep them where they need to be.
You can do this anywhere you have room to stand, pretty much. Work the legs, including your glutes and quads, and hammies.
Natural resistance training, and much harder than it looks. Hold it as long as you can, and really feel that burn!
Increase your flexibility, and get in a good stretch before a run or a bit of sports with the family.
